In India, farmers having less than a hectare of land constitute 60 to 70 percent in any village and these form target groups of the SKDRDP project . |

Individual farmers are encouraged to prepare a
Farm Plan and to go about cultivation in accordance with the plan.

Plans for cultivating sustainable long term and income generating short term crops have been implemented .

Farmers are encouraged to grow commercial crops along with the food crops for economic sustainability.

Importance has been given for planting high yielding and grafted saplings.

Creation of assets

Awareness about the preparation of compost manures has been created.

Creation of water sources through dug wells are promoted.

Irrigation systems such as drip, jet, sprinklers and other refined methods are adopted by most stakeholders.

Purchase and use of simple machines like power tillers, harvesters, thrashers, manual milking machines, chaff cutters, coconut tree climbing equipments etc are encouraged.
The technology required are provided in house by qualified agriculture graduates, dairy experts. The line department officials and the local research stations also provide the necessary assistance.
The financial support for farming is provided through the micro finance wing of SKDRDP. There is a small element of charity in the form of a minor subsidy for distinguished activities. |
