A unique programme to protect the indigenous cattle breeds and to develop genetic material for breeding and promoting the indigenous breeds has also been initiated.   Plantation of fodder trees, watershed activities, cultivation of fodder, maize, installation of gobar gas plant, organic manure, have been undertaken here.  And train the farmers in organic farming.   The center has maintained malnad gidda bulls and cows, besides certain other breeds.
