Since SKDRDP (R) is a human resource based organization it undertakes capacity building, Induction and refresher training courses for the staff and stakeholders constantly through its Human Resource development wing. Further, various skill based trainings, self employment trainings and awareness programs are conducted for the SHG members motivating them to take up self employment ventures and enterprises for their economic empowerment. Trainings on microfinance models are also offered to various organizations working in the microfinance sector. SKDRDP (R) has set up 3 such training centers based in Belthangady, Mangalore and Dharwad with well equipped technologies and resource persons. A total number of 421 trainings to more than 16,151 members have been provided during the year 2010-11.

4. Skill based trainings ( 3 to 90 days duration) like Incense Sticks, Readymade garments, Rexine bags, Areca- Leaf plates, Condiments, pickles, Squash, Pappad, Chemical items like phenol, soap, Vehicle- wash, hand wash, bleaching powder etc.

5. Service based trainings (5 to 180 days duration) like Motor rewinding, Mobile phone repair , Electrical home appliances repair, Computer - DTP, MS-Office, Tally, Screen printing, Secretarial practice, Motor driving training, Photography & Videography, Beautician.

6. Agri based trainings (5 to 15 days duration) like, Organic farming, Integrated farming, Irrigation, Dairying, Poultry, Goat rearing, Horticulture, Sericulture, Apiculture (Bee keeping.), Floriculture, Organic and Bio-manure preparation, Rubber tapping, Nursery.

7. Study/Exposure visits….

On request by NGOs and other organizations Centre organizes study/exposure visits to observe various activities of SKDRD and SIRI like SHG meetings, Pragathibandhu, Jnanavikasa, agricultural farms, group enterprises, etc.

8. Facilities to scholars….

Centre offers guidance to practitioners and students of Social Work Rural development, Home Science, Psychology and Economics for their field project / dissertation work.

9. Need based  and off campus trainings –

Need based trainings will be organized for stakeholders or staff of NGO/MFIs, SHG members, Schools/Colleges, Banks and financial Institutions, Government agencies etc on subjects like HRD, EDP, rural development, Microfinance etc..

Focus is laid on the participatory learning approach. Besides Lecturing, Filed visit, Focused Group Discussion, Demonstration, Simulation activities and Case studies are widely used.
